Portugal, Porto

On Pentecost we went for a long weekend (5 days) to the north of Portugal. We flew to Porto where we stayed 3 days. It's a lovely city, sitting on some hills above the Douro river. Famous is this place for the port wine and there are many place to taste it, especially in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the southern side of the river! The river crosses the Ponte Dom Luis I bridge, constructed by 2 students of Gustav Eiffel between 1881 and 1886, it measures 392 meters at its highern end.
